Some works exist first and foremost in their own right. Others begin with a place. <\/span><\/p>\n

Its dimensions, its use, some of its materials, and sometimes its history or the territory to which it belongs can become part of the conditions from which I work.<\/p>\n

I can thus conceive a textile work or installation for a particular space, in dialogue with the person who inhabits, collects, designs or hosts it.<\/p>\n

The aim is not to adapt an existing work to an interior, but to allow the specific conditions of a place to participate in the emergence of a new form.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When a work is intended for a specific place, certain very concrete characteristics become important: the available space, hanging possibilities, the distance from which the work will be viewed, or whether it can extend beyond the wall.<\/span><\/p>\n

These constraints do not constitute an architectural programme for me. They simply become part of the conditions I work with. <\/p>\n

A work may then remain contained within a frame, unfold across several elements, extend lengthwise, or partially leave the plane of the wall.<\/p>\n

I work at the scale of both wall-based works and installations that engage directly with architecture.<\/p>\n

Depending on the place and the project, this may take the form of a single work, a diptych or polyptych, a work extending along the length of a wall, a suspended composition, or an installation whose fibres continue into space.<\/p>\n

In each of these forms, textile retains its material qualities: its flexibility, weight and tension, its ability to filter light or alter our perception of a boundary.<\/p>\n

The aim is not to reproduce the same form at different scales. Each commission instead opens up a new inquiry within the language of the Cartographies de l\u2019Invisible. Each project is an opportunity to find the right form for a particular situation. <\/p>\n

I work with natural fibres, botanical dyes, soils and woods whose origins and transformations I seek to understand as precisely as possible.<\/p>\n

In some projects, the place can shape not only the dimensions of the work but also its material composition: a local wood species, a dye plant, a soil, a locally produced fibre or even a particular source of water may enter into the making process.<\/p>\n

I work from the information required to create the work: photographs of the site, available dimensions, hanging constraints and, when the project requires it, plans or documents provided by the client or the professionals involved.<\/span><\/p>\n

From these elements, I develop an artistic proposal addressing the form, dimensions, materials and the way the work will take its place within the site.<\/p>\n

When the project forms part of a broader architectural design, I work in dialogue with the architect or interior designer responsible for its technical and spatial dimensions.<\/p>\n
